"the cashin look"

Cashin's aim was to create "simple art forms for living in, to be re-arranged as mood and activity dictates." She favored luxurious, organic materials that she could "sculpt" into shape, such as leather, suede, mohair, wool jersey and cashmere as well as non-fashion materials, including upholstery fabrics.

With these textures and shapes, together with her artist's eye for color, she created wardrobes of kinetic art that offered the utmost in fashion and function.

Bonnie Cashin for Sills and Co., 1969.
