7th avenue, the glamour division, and ponchos, 1937-1949

1937-1942
In 1937, Carmel Snow, the newly appointed editor at Harper's Bazaar, attended a fashion-themed Roxyette performance and admired Cashin's designs. As a result, and despite Cashin's lack of experience in the ready-to-wear industry, Snow arranged for her to become the head designer for the prestigious coat and suit manufacturer Adler & Adler. Until 1942, Cashin designed garments sold through New York's luxury department stores and worn by high society women, including the Duchess of Windsor.
