Designs for The Knittery

In 1972, Cashin opened The Knittery, a company for one-of-a-kind handknit sweaters that were knit into shape, rather than cut and sewn. That year, she also was inducted into the Coty Hall of Fame. In response to receiving the highest honor in American fashion, at age 64, she commented "But, I am just beginning." She continued to design for Sills and Coach, as well as create lines of country clothes, leather and knit hats and gloves, fur coats, canvas tote bags, umbrellas, robes, and nightgowns. As Bill Blass commented, "Bonnie is simply the enduring American designer."
