As distinguished her later ready-to-wear sketches, Cashin based her earliest
fashion illustrations on her own life, embellished with gleeful storytelling
details outlining the materials and context for a particular design. This
caption reads: "Hobby - as the girls call her
because she has so many, (and most of them pertain to clothes) is all
athrill with her newest evening frock which is just the thing for the
"I Tappa Keg's" fraternity dance. The bodice and cluster of
leaves are of deep coral velvet while the skirt is of a slightly lighter
shade of net. Isn't it just the kind of thing you could dance all night
in - provided, of course, that your slippers correspond?"
