twentieth century-fox film costume and one-off fashion designs, 1943-1949

Seeking a solution to the rapid changes in temperature encountered when driving through the Hollywood Hills in her convertible, Cashin cut a hole in a car blanket. She found this to be the least restrictive garment to don and doff on-the-go. Endless variations on togas and ponchos were central to her later theories of modern, modular dress.

"The Tweed Toga," 1943.

"Printed Crepe Toga," 1946
