The expansive collecting done by University Librarian Robert Vosper and Chancellor Franklin D. Murphy in the 1960s is described in detail in Vosper's oral history. Among those collections are several of the Area Studies collections, such as the East Asian, the Near Eastern, and the Orsini collection.

In this letter antiquarian bookseller Menno Hertzberger offers Librarian Powell a collection of Mazarinades, printed in the 17th century. They were first housed in the Clark library to complement its other 17th century printing holdings and were later transferred to Special Collections.
