Water resources holdings are linked with agriculture and the growth of the region. The papers of Phil Swing, congressman and California state official, and of others who served in public office provide materials on the development of water resources, including Boulder Dam and the California State Water Project. There are papers of UCLA faculty members associated with the University of California Water Resources Center. The department holds the papers of Horace M. Albright, co-founder and second director of the National Park Service and also houses Albright's library of printed materials relating to the national parks and conservation.
